The U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration has announced its Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Advisory Committee will hold a meeting May 22 in Washington, D.C.REEEAC provides the Department of Commerce with advice from the private sector on the development and administration of programs and policies to expand the export competitiveness of U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency products and services.&nbsp;For the purposes of the REEEAC, covered goods and services do not include vehicles, feedstocks for biofuels, or energy efficiency as it relates to consumer goods or buildings. However, non-fossil fuels that reduce carbon consumption, such as liquid biofuels and wood pellets, are included.During the May 22 meeting, members of the committee and officials from the Department of Commerce and other agencies will discuss major issues affecting the competitiveness of the U.S. renewable energy and energy efficiency industries. The committee will also provide an overview of its recommendations to the relevant U.S. government officials from the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee agencies.&nbsp;The REEEAC currently includes more than 30 members, including representatives Lignetics, a wood pellet producer, and the Renewable Fuels Association, a trade association for America’s ethanol industry. &nbsp;The ITC in April <a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/reeeac-to-hold-meeting-march-21">announced</a> it is seeking nominations for REEEAC members to serve during the next charter term, which is 2024-2026. Nominations can be submitted through May 31.The May 22 meeting is the eighth meeting of the REEEAC’s current charter term, which is 2022-2024. The in-person event is open to members of the public, but interested parties must register by May 17.
