The U.S. EPA on Dec. 19 released data showing that 2.03 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in November, up from 2.01 billion generated during the same month of 2023. Nearly 22.9 billion RINs were generated during the first 11 months of 2024.

Growth Energy Members Conestoga Energy and SAFFiRE Renewables broke ground yesterday on a new facility that will eventually produce cellulosic bioethanol from corn stover—then convert that bioethanol into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Nearly 2.04 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in June, down from 2.06 billion generated during the same month of last year. Total RIN generation for the first half of 2024 reached 12.07 billion.
Blue Biofuels Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received a Notice of Allowance in Canada for the primary patent on its CTS process, #3,121,695 “System to Convert Cellulosic Materials into Sugar and Method of Using the Same.”
Southwest Airlines in March acquired SAFFiRE Renewables LLC, as part of the investment portfolio of its wholly owned subsidiary Southwest Airlines Renewable Ventures LLC. SAFFiRE is part of a NREL project to develop SAF.

Southwest Airlines Co. has acquired SAFFiRE Renewables LLC as part of the investment portfolio of its wholly owned subsidiary Southwest Airlines Renewable Ventures LLC. SAFFiRE expects to produce cellulosic ethanol for conversion into SAF.
Blue Biofuels Inc. announced it has successfully producing its first batch of cellulosic ethanol, utilizing the cellulosic sugars created from biomass on its CTS pilot line. The company has also embarked on a funding process for SAF capacity with Vertimass.
New Energy Blue on March 18 announced the formation of New Energy Chemicals. In phase one, the biochemical subsidiary will produce biobased ethylene for use in Dow’s renewable plastics. In phase two, the subsidiary will expand to SAF production.
Comstock Inc. on Dec. 28 announced execution of agreements with RenFuel K2B AB to advance its first commercial biorefinery, which is planned for development in Sweden and will produce a biointermediate used to make SAF and renewable diesel.
Conestoga Energy and SAFFiRE Renewables LLC announced on Nov. 16 their agreement for Conestoga to host SAFFiRE’s cellulosic ethanol pilot plant at Conestoga’s Arkalon Energy ethanol facility in Liberal, Kansas.
Nearly 1.95 billion RINs were generated under the RFS in September, up from 1.73 billion generated during the same month of 2022, according to data released by the U.S. EPA. Total RIN generation for the first nine months of 2023 was at 17.41 billion.
