Phillips 66 on June 26 announced that its Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex in California is operating at full capacity, producing 50,000 barrels per day (800 MMgy) of renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).The Rodeo facility previously processed petroleum feedstocks. In 2021, Phillips 66 <a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/phillips-66-ramps-up-renewable-diesel-production-18228">completed a hydrotreater conversion project</a>, enabling the production of 8,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel at the facility. The company in May 2022 expanded plans for renewables production at the Rodeo site, <a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/phillips-66-moves-forward-with-800-mmgy-renewables-project-18988">announcing a final investment decision</a> to fully convert the facility to produce 50,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel and SAF. At that time, the company explained that the scope of the project includes the construction of pre-treatment units and the repurposing of existing hydrocracking units to enable production of renewable fuels.The conversion project was completed earlier this year. The Rodeo facility ceased crude oil operations in February 2024. Phillips 66 in April <a href="https://biomassmagazine.com/articles/phillips-66-begins-commercial-operations-at-rodeo-biorefinery">announced</a> renewable diesel production had commenced, producing approximately 30,000 barrels per day. The facility is now operating a at full capacity, producing both renewable diesel and SAF, according to the company.The Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex includes new pretreatment units that process lower carbon intensity (CI) feedstocks, such as used cooking oil (UCO), fats, greases and vegetable oil.&nbsp;“Phillips 66 has reached another important milestone, which is a testament to our employees’ dedication to achieving our company’s strategic priorities,” said Rich Harbison, Phillips 66 executive vice president of Refining. “The facility running at full capacity supports the growing demand for renewable fuels, lowers our carbon footprint and creates long-term value for our shareholders.”Additional details regarding operations at the Rodeo complex are expected to be discussed during Phillips 66’s upcoming second quarter earnings call, which is scheduled to be held July 30.&nbsp;
